Chlorine Dioxide In Farm

​       Chlorine Dioxide technology has really taken off over the past couple of years in the poultry industry and has shown to be a great alternative to Chlorine and even stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide for continuous water sanitation. There are a lot of reasons why people have started to use Chlorine Dioxide as their choice for water sanitation. Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) is chemically quite different from Chlorine (Cl2). ClO2 only has 2/3 the oxidation potential of Chlorine or stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide but it has 2.5 times more oxidation capacity compared to both of those chemicals. ​Chlorine Dioxide is  NOT pH dependent like Chlorine and can disinfect your water from a pH of 2 to 10. It is far less corrosive on equipment compared to Chlorine. Chlorine Dioxide can work on and eliminate biofilm that Chlorine can not, take out sulfur odors and helps eliminate mineral build up and filtering / removing iron out of your water becomes more effective.

  • Chlorine Dioxide only has 2/3 the oxidation potential of Chlorine or stabilized Hydrogen Peroxide but it has 2.5 times more oxidation capacity compared to both of those chemicals.
  • Chlorine Dioxide is  NOT pH dependent like Chlorine and can disinfect your water from a pH of 2 to 10.
  • Chlorine Dioxide is selective oxidizer it is not greatly affected by ‘organic matter or other containment in the water which allows it to be useful at much lower ppm’s or dilutions in your water system. This ability make chlorine dioxide not react to good mineral you want to give to your animals (such as Vitamin) which it normally react and get oxidized by chlorine or hydrogen peroxide.
  • Chlorine Dioxide is a broad spectrum biocide with proven activity against bacteria, viruses, yeasts, mycobacteria and bacterial spores.
  • Chlorine Dioxide can destroy Biofilm that Chlorine can't. This make Chlorine Dioxide able to ensure that immunity will not produce.

  • Chlorine Dioxide can reduce cost of biocide.
  • Even in low concentration, Chlorine Dioxide can disinfect and prevent Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei (EHP) the microsporidian parasite that associated with severe growth retardation in P. vannamei.
  • Chlorine Dioxide can disinfect and prevent cause of Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS).
